Information Service

Knowsley Disability Concern provides an information giving service for disabled people and their families.

This service can also be accessed by professional’s e.g. social workers and other organisations involved in disability issues.

In connection with this service KDC is a member of Dial UK (Disability Information and Advice Lines). This is a national network of information giving organisations, which offers a range of services such as training and sharing of information.

Examples of the range of information to hand include membership of the Disabled Living Foundation and use of their database.

This is more commonly known as the Hamilton Index and gives information on equipment designed for disabled people.

KDC is quality assured by the Community Legal Service Commission at assisted information level.

We are also working towards the Dial UK quality standards.

Each of these quality marks ensures that the service offered is of the highest quality.

We have contact to a number of other organisations we also hold information on a vast amount of disability related topics

KDC is an associate member of Mencap. This enables us to access Mencap’s National Information Service for information on topics about learning disability

KDC does not claim to have the answer to every enquiry.

In such cases we "signpost" the enquirer to an organisation more suited to that particular issue. We would subsequently ensure that the enquiry has been dealt with appropriately.
