Direct Payments

Money that allows you to choose who gives you the support that you need.

A Direct Payment is a different way of getting support that you are assessed as needing.

It is money that the social services can give you to buy the services you need, from who you want to provide them, instead of it being arranged for you.

You can get a direct payment if you are currently getting support from social services or you can ask social services to assess your needs.

You can arrange who supports you and how and when they do it. We can help you to manage the Direct Payments but you make the choices and have the responsibility to control your support.

If you only want a Direct Payment for part of your support, Social Services will arrange services for the rest.

A Direct Payment does not affect Social Security benefits and is not counted as taxable income.

How can I find out more about Direct Payments?

Contact your local Social Worker who will help you.
